Pray for OUR President

I had the wonderful experience of attending the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma annual meeting in Broken Arrow, Okla. Personally, it was a great experience for many reasons.

One reason I would like to share with our blog readers is my appreciation of a resolution that BGCO messengers passed. I am truly thankful for the conservative values represented by Oklahoma Baptists, and they were emphasized in many of the proposed resolutions. But one resolution holds significant encouragement.

The resolution I am speaking about called for Oklahoma Baptists to put forth an emphasis to pray for our president. I truly support this proclamation. Our new president needs our prayers.

I know it can be a struggle for many to accept Barack Obama as the next President of the United States. If nothing else, we can still hold strong to our faith in the fact that God is in control. God has made himself known through many rulers of history, and many of those rulers had no desire to honor God nor gave any consideration of God in many of their decisions. Yet our God still reigns supreme!

I appreciate Mike Huckabee’s perspective on Barack Obama. I hold the same view and hope you will too.

I agree with you, Chris. Having heard the same sermon at the meeting of the Baptists, I was inspired to pray for Obama as well. Have you ever read the interview he did with Christianity Today? It is here: http://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2008/januaryweb-only/104-32.0.html

Apart from his slick way of averting the pro-life question, it was a good interview.
